TGIF Feature: Emma Stone and the Women of SNL Are BTS Super Fans

Members of BTS.

I have to confess, I'm surprised at the success BTS, the South Korean boy group, has had in the United States. When was the last time a foreign-language group made such an impact on the American music industry?

The 7-member K-pop group will be the musical guests on Saturday Night Live, April 13, when Emma Stone, the fake Asian of the movie Aloha, one the decades greatest miscastings.

My respect for the group went up when being interviewed by Entertainment Weekly, BTS vowed that they "won't sing in English" just to get to "number one" because it would mean they'd have to "change" their identity.

"I think it’s even harder as an Asian group," RM said of securing chart-topping success. "A Hot 100 and a Grammy nomination, these are our goals. But they’re just goals — we don’t want to change our identity or our genuineness to get the number one. Like if we sing suddenly in full English, and change all these other things, then that’s not BTS. We’ll do everything, we’ll try. But if we couldn’t get number one or number five, that’s okay."

I love watching members of the BTS Army sing along with the group -- in Korean.

In this promo video, Stone and women of SNL, express their excitement at BTS's arrival.
