A jury in Redwood City south of San Francisco acquitted real estate heiress Tiffany Li of murdering the father of her children, Keith Green, reports SF Gate.

Li, 33, whose family’s wealth is estimated between $100-$150 million, had been in house arrest after posting $35 million bail. She has been under house arrest since she posted bail.

The trial against her boyfriend, Kaveh Bayat, ended in a hung jury.

Li cried Friday (Nov. 15) when the jury announced its verdict after deliberating 12 days. She then rushed out of the courthouse without comment. Her attorney says she plans to travel to China to see her family.

“Any time any defendant is found not guilty in a serious crime, they’re (given) a gift by somebody — I don’t believe in God, but somebody — and they should pay attention,” Geoffrey Carr said to NBC Bay Area.

Prosecutors accused Li of luring Green to meet her in a plot to kill him over a custody dispute on April 28, 2016.

District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe says it has not been decided whether they will retry Bayat. The defense alleged it was actually Olivier Adella who committed the murder. Adella was accused of dumping the body, but authorities released him after he agreed to a plea bargain, only to be rearrested later for violating terms of that agreement.

“I want to hear the details and the proof that they presented to know whether that was just a theory argued by attorneys or whether there are some facts to support it,” said San Mateo County District Attorney Stephen Wagstaffe to ABC7 News.

Li hopes to regain custody of her children.
