A judge in California denied bail for a man accused of escaping to Mexico after murdering his wife in 2012, reports ABC News.
Millionaire Peter Chadwick was arrested in Mexico and extradited to the US. He remains in jail after entering a plea of not guilty to murdering his wife Prosecutors say he strangled his Malaysian-born wife, Quee Choo Lim Chadwick, at their Newport home following an argument over finances and a potential divorce.

“We believe Peter Chadwick has been in Mexico since his disappearance.” said Newport Beach Police Chief Jon Lewis, according to CBS News.

Authorities found her body in a trash bin a week after her husband reported her disappearance. They believe he left false clues to mislead police into thinking he had run to Canada where his father lives. Investigators suspect the millionaire took a job in Mexico as a bus boy in an attempt to fit in.

He allegedly strangled his wife in a dispute over the financial consequences of a possible divorce.

He had first been arrested in 2012, but  was released after posting $1.5 million bail. He disappeared in 2015 after withdrawing all his money from bank accounts and taking cash advances from his credit cards.

His next court appearance is scheduled for September.
