TGIF FEATURE: Little girl ignores ceremonies to hug her father

Lt. Daniel Oglesby was welcomed home by her daughters.
TWO-YEAR OLD Karis Oglesby couldn't herself back when she saw her father, 1st Lt. Daniel Oglesby in homecoming ceremonies Fort Carson, Colorado Tuesday. She sprinted across the gym floor  to her father and gave him a welcome home hug.

Lt. Oglesby told KKTV that his daughter "couldn't contain herself, and I wasn't gonna tell her no." He does direct her back to her mom and older sister though, after a quick hug, to finish out the ceremony properly.

Oglesby had been deployed in Kuwait since February; his wife Kristine told TODAY.com she was worried Karis wouldn't even recognize her dad on his return. Not so! She explained she'd read her daughters Lily Hates Goodbyes, a book about military children dealing with their father's deployment — the book features Lily giving her dad a hug on his return, and Karis said she'd do the same.

"So of course I'm like, 'Yes, yes, you're going to do that,' and I encouraged it," Kristine explained. "I had no idea that Karis was actually going to do it during the ceremony."

Watch the touching moment taped by KKTV below. The video went viral, of course.
