Tammy Duckworth responds to Trump's purple heart remark

AT A CAMPAIGN event in Virginia on Tuesday (July 2), the Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump told the crowd that he “always wanted” to receive a Purple Heart, awarded to military service members who were wounded or killed in combat.

“This was much easier,” Trump said, when a veteran at the event gave him a copy of his Purple Heart.

In response, Sean Barney, a Democratic candidate for Congress in Delaware, posted a picture with his own medal and said "no one should ever 'want' to get a Purple Heart."

“This is how one usually looks when you are awarded the Purple Heart," tweeted Illinois Rep. Tammy Duckworth, a Thai/American and a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate. She posted her remarks next to a picture of her in the hospital after she lost both her legs and part an arm when a grenade launcher hit her helicopter in Iraq. "Nothing easy about it,”

Enough said.
