Chrissy Teigen suffers a miscarriage and shares her grief

Chrissy Teigen mourns the loss of their child.

Celebrity couple John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are in mourning after losing their baby because of a miscarriage.

"We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before," wrote Teigen on Instagram and Twitter. "We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough."

Her post was accompanied with a heartbreaking black & white photo (above) of her sitting on her hospital bed, hunched over with tears flowing down her cheeks.

Teigen was hospitalized two weeks ago because of the difficulty she was having with her pregnancy.

Teigen and Legend are both prolific on social media sharing with their thousands of followers tips on cooking and their travels, followers watched their two other children grow from infancy to their current ages, and comments on show business and politics.

"We are so grateful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies Luna and Miles, for all the amazing things we’ve been able to experience," posted the model and cookbook author. "But everyday can’t be full of sunshine. On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it."

Sharing their tragedy online with their followers is the unfortunate consequence of their using social media to share so much of their lives with their fans. They received praise for bringing attention to miscarriages, usually something most women don't talk about even though one in four women have experienced it and the shame and stigma often associated with the medical condition.

The celebrity couple -- he is a famous songwriter and singer -- also suffered the dark side of being so prominent on social media. They were targeted by conservatives with nasty and just plain mean messages: some saying the miscarriage have remained private and others hoping the unabashedly liberal couple would change their position on abortion.

October is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month, a time of the year to raise awareness about stillbirth, miscarriage, SIDS, or any other cause of death of an unborn child or infant. According to Star Legacy Foundation, infant death and pregnancy loss affects tens of thousands of families across the United States, and yet the topic is one that is rarely talked about.

By sharing her personal tragedy, Teigen has, perhaps unknowingly, removed some of the stigma attached to pregnancy loss.

Since her post went live, parents, families, and friends have noted that they've found it easier to open up about their own, heretofore, private experiences with pregnancy loss and infant death.

Teigen posted a followup tweet last Friday (Sept. 30).

Two Asian Americans poised to win 'American Ido'l and 'The Voice'

Watch out for singers Myra Tran, left, and Jej Vinson.

If you're a fan of reality shows, especially American Idol and The Voice, you're going to have fun this season by following the journeys of two Asian American singers who blew their respective judges away this week.

On Sunday (Mar. 3) , U.S. audiences were introduced to highschooler Myra Tran, who has only been in this country for a year.

When she was just 16-years old, Tran actually competed on and won Season 2 of The X Factor Vietnam in 2016. She captivated the judges there, and wanted to compete on American Idol to further establish her talent and work toward her goals.

According to the show's program notes, Tran — whose full name is full name is Trần Minh Như — moved to the United States from Vietnam just a year ago to pursue her dream of becoming a singer in America. "I [moved] here so I can follow my dream," she explained in the premiere episode. "[It's] the best way to follow my dream."
For her audition, Tran covered Jennifer Hudson's "One Night Only."

You know she impressed the judges on ABC's American Idol when they began high-fiving each other midway through her audition.

"You're up there with the Kelly Clarksons of the world," judge Luke Bryan said, leaving Tran shaking. Clarkson is among American Idol's most successful alumni along with Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson.

"You just need to keep singing, because if you keep singing, you're really going to connect with people," added pop artist Katy Perry. "I think we can really feel who you are through the music. Music transcends language barriers, and you just showed us that."

Speaking of Kelly Clarkson, on Monday night, she was the first judge on The Voice to turn her chair around for Filipino American Jej Vinson, as he sang "Passionfruit" (By Drake).

As Vinson's voice began to soar, the other three judges -- Adam Levine, John Legend and Blake Shelton -- turned their chairs around, hoping to convince the singer to accept their tutelage.

"You're a better singer than all of us," Levine quipped. He praised Vinson's precision in hitting the notes but advised him to put more emotion into his singing.

"You showed us this really precise, beautiful runs," Legend told the Los Angeles-based contestant. "It's like you knew the note you wanted and you just picked it out the air and hit every single one with precision, and beauty, and excitement. You got the whole crowd going."

Shelton, on the other hand, said: "I think everybody here is probably a little bit nervous talking to you right now. We all feel like we're all looking at the winner of 'The Voice' this season, I do. I think that."

Clarkson, who ran over to Vinson to hug him after his audition, said: "I can win this show with you. You are incredible, man. I turned around and I was like, 'What?' And it was so effortless."

In the end, the 22-year old Vinson picked Clarkson to be his coach.

Raised in Davao City in the Philippines, Vinson and his family immigrated to the U.S. when he was 15. The Vinson family settled in South Dakota but three years later moved to Los Angeles where Jej studies music at USC and directs the school's a capella group.

There has never been an Asian American winning singer on either of these two shows.

Jessica Sanchez, a Filipina American from San Diego, almost accomplished the feat in 2012 but finished as the first runnner-up on American Idol.

It's very early in their competitions and there will be pitfalls along the way but representation matters. It will be fun to follow Tran and Vinson as they move through their respective competition. In both shows, there comes a point when the audience votes for the singers. Get your smart phones and computers ready!

Happy belated birthday, Donald Trump

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend

CHRISSY TEIGEN AND JOHN LEGEND gave birthday wishes to Donald Trump yesterday (June 15) in the best possible way. Trump turned 72.

As Trump was blowing out the candles to his cake, children are being taken away from their parents as the family seeks asylum in the U.S.

That's $1000 for every year Trump has been on this earth. If I read the couple's message right and if my math is correct, that's 4 x $72,000, for a grand total of $288,000.

It's well known that the international model and TV hostess and her songwriter husband are not great fans of Trump and his anti-immigrant policies and his attempts to undo the last 60 years of social progress.

LOL - Trump blocks Chrissy Teigen

CHRISSY TEIGEN has joined an exclusive club. Donald Trump has blocked her on Twitter!
This - apparently - was the last straw.

There's no love lost. The super model and social media queen is not losing any sleep over it.

The Lip Sync Battle hostess, who is part Thai, and her husband singer John Legend have been trolling Trump for years, even before he ran for president.

Speaking to USA Today in February, Teigen said she has "actually been a big Donald Trump hater [for a long time]. I've been trolling him for about five to seven years now. I've been doing this forever, and I take pride in that."

Things got serious for Teigen when Trump declared his candidacy for president.

And then, Donald Trump became the White House occupant.

Teigen is the latest high-profile star to be blocked by the POTUS, joining Rosie O'Donnell and Stephen King. Some Twitter users who've been blocked have filed a lawsuit in federal court, arguing that the president can't stop people from communicating with him, reports The Washington Post.

Tiger only wonders - why did it take so long?

HEALTH: Chrissy Teigen opens up about her postpartum blues

THERE'S A LOT of women who would love to exchange places with Chrissy Teigen.

With handsome husband John Legend who earns a good living by writing and singing musical hits, photo assignments in some of the most beautiful locales around the world, wearing the designer clothes and blessed with the physical attributes of a swimsuit model, it would seem that she has everything a woman could want.

Teigen graces the cover of Marie Claire magazine's July edition. Normally, having an AAPI person on the cover of a major magazine, it would be an occasion to write about the progress we have made integrating into the U.S.

But in this case, Teigen is on the cover for another reason - a dark secret that she reveals in the article. Like many new mothers after giving birth, she suffers from postpartum anxiety and depression. According to the Centers for Disease Control, 11 to 20% of women who give birth each year have postpartum depression symptoms.

Teigen explains how the condition often makes her feel unsteady and worried.“Every step I take feels a little shaky,” she said. “It’s such a weird feeling that you wouldn’t know unless you have really bad anxiety ... You feel like everyone is looking at you.”

Also known as perinatal anxiety, PPA can cause sufferers to feel constantly anxious—to the point where it can interfere with their daily lives. Postpartum anxiety can go hand-in-hand with postpartum depression or it can be completely separate. say medical doctors. Doctors aren't totally sure what causes PPA, but suspect that the lack of sleep and fluctuating hormone levels that come with being a new mom may be at play, she says.

When Teigen was diagnosed with anxiety, she was also diagnosed with PPD, a mood disorder impacting one in every seven to nine mothers, although estimates vary, according to the American Psychological Association.

PPD involves the onset of moderate to severe depressive symptoms—including insomnia, loss of appetite, increased irritability, and difficulty bonding with the baby—lasting more than two weeks. he model first revealed her illness in the March issue of Glamour magaizine.

Teigen now takes an antidepressant to treat her conditions. And though she's talked about still having "bad days" with her PPD, she's trying not to let the condition interfere with her desire to expand her family. "I loved being pregnant," she said. "Maybe I should be scared [of having PPD again], but I don't know. It couldn't be any worse than it was, could it?"
Teigen also discusses living with postpartum depression after the birth of her daughter Luna in April 2016. She said that she treats the mood disorders with medication.

Considering the reluctance among AAPI to discuss and treat mental illness because of the stigma associated with it. The articles about Teigen's condition puts a spotlight on the illness. She hopes that by going public about her condition, it will encourage other women to understand that their illness is not their fault and that it is treatable.

TGIF FEATURE: Chrissy Teigen and John Legend take Luna to her first baseball game

SUPER MODEL and social media queen Chrissy Teigen and husband, musician John Legend, attended the Seattle Mariners game Tuesday (June 6) night and gave us an impossibly adorable moment when daughter Luna threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Seven-time All-Star Robinson Cano crouched behind the plate as the one-year-old attempted to throw the ball a few times but Luna couldn't control her knuckle ball.

After a few attempts, Chrissy had to help Luna throw the ball towards Cano.

John Legend was in Seattle for one of his concerts on a national tour. He brought his wife and daughter along for the tour. It was Luna's first tour.
The Legend family attended the ballgame for a respite from the hectic concert schedule.
Teigen, whose mother is Thai, attended Snohomish High School, 30 miles north of Seattle, where Legend performed for the choir during their brief visit.
