TGIF Feature: Bruno Mars up for six Grammys

Cards B and Bruno Mars will team up at the Grammy Awards this Sunday.

THANK GOODNESS for Bruno Mars. If not for the Filipino/Puerto Rican Hawaii-born artist, there would barely be any AAPI presence at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards this Sunday.

Mars will be at the music industry's awards shows celebrating the best performers and performances in a big way.

He has been nominated in six categories: Best Album for his 24K album, Best R&B album, Song of the Year for "That's What I Like," Record of the Year for 24K, Best R&B of the Year for "That's What I Like," Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance for the same song.

In addition, Grammy producers continue to acknowledge the energy he bring to the room by his always spectacular performances. He doesn't need fireworks or legions of dancers to enhance his performance. Mars just needs his band and backup singers.

This year, he'll be performing his song "Finesse" with Cardi B, who is also up for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song (“Bodak Yellow”).

Unfortunately, other recordings or performances with, or by, AAPI artists most likely won't get any airtime. They  are:

The 60th Annual Grammy Awards will broadcast from Radio City Music Hall, NYC, on CBS.

TGIF Feature: Bruno Mars - Finesse (Remix) with Cardi B

BRUNO MARS teams up with Cardi B to do a fantastic remix of Mars' "Finesse." 

Their different styles complement each other in a tribute to the 90s In Living Color. Her street rap added to his more stylistic singing, gave the song a brand new spin.

The Filipino/American R&B entertainer, who directed the remix, built a facsimile of the Living Color set and included his own set of "Fly Girls." The multi-cultural, interracial comedy skit show, created by Keenen Ivory Wayans, helped pave the way for minority performers in Hollywood. It introduced us to the Wayans family, Jennifer Lopez, Dancing With The Stars' Carrie Ann Inaba, comedian Jim Carrey and featured one of the first AAPI comedians on contemporary TV, Steven Park.

The original Fly Girls lineup was made up of Cari French, Deidre Lang, Lisa Marie Todd, Michelle Whitney-Morrison and longtime Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba. Jennifer Lopez joined the show as a dancer in the third season.

Former The View panelist and actress Rosie Perez was the choreographer for the first four seasons.

Since being post a day ago, the video has become one of the hottest views online.
