President Joe Biden this morning issued an official proclamation designating October as Filipino American History Month.

In the proclamation, Biden makes note of the role of Filipino soldiers in WWII, labor organizing in agriculture and their current contributions in health care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the proclamation, Biden said: "Today, our Nation mourns their losses and honors the contributions of Filipino Americans during this global health crisis and throughout our history."

Filipino American health care workers continue to play a critical role fighting the pandemic.
