PROFESSIONAL EATER Matt Stonie retained the coveted title of No. 1 Eater of Peeps Saturday by downing 255 of the sugar-covered marshmallow chicks in five minutes.
Major League Eating declared it a new record. Stonie, an Asian/American from San Jose, Calif., beat his own record from last year when he swallowed 200 of the Easter delites in the eating contest's inaugural competition that was held in National Harbor, Maryland.

Peeps make their annual appearance around Easter then disappear the rest of the year.
For his eating prowess (vomiting means immediate elimination), Stonie won $1,750, a trophy filled with blue Peeps — and bragging rights until next year.
The boyish Stonie, recognized as one of the top professional eating competitors in the world, has held titles in a number of foods, including hot dogs, ribs, moon pies and pasta among others.
His main competitor in the eating contest world has been Joey Chestnut, also from San Jose. There must be something in the water.
