TGIF FEATURE: Hailee Steinfeld first single "Love Myself," an ode to masturbation?

THIS CONTINUES to be the Summer of Hailee Steinfeld. Imagine, three movies, a Taylor Swift music video, hanging out with the Kardashians and now her first musical release, "Love Myself." That's enough to keep most people busy for a a couple of years.

The Filipina/American teenager's first record from Republic Recording may put an edge on Steinfeld's squeaky-clean image. That may be a good thing for her budding career.  It's hard to believe she is ONLY 18-years old and she's had an Oscar nomination on her resume'.

The reviews are in and the critics love the pop recording ... for a variety of reasons.

It’s a quite a brilliant pop song—the Taylor Swift crowd can interpret it as a celebration of self-esteem; moms will love it because Steinfeld’s got a reputation for being part of Hollywood’s squeakiest clean set; but discerning pop ears will hear it exactly for what it is, which is that she can love herself “anytime day or night,” “anytime that I like,” in no equivocal terms about the joy and benefits of dolo fapping.--Julianne Escobedo Shepherd, Jezebel

In the video for “Love Myself,” Steinfeld wears a black leotard with the words “Self Service” emblazoned on the front. She’s obviously and unabashedly singing about female masturbation: “I’m gonna put my body first/And love me so hard ’til it hurts.”--Kelsey McKinney, Fusion
