GRAMMYS Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars teamed up to do a tribute to the victims and firefighters of the Los Angeles wildfires by singing "California Dreaming.: |
Bruno Mars and Nora Jones were among the best known musical artists of Asian heritage winning Grammys Sunday evening. However, the Asian with the most Grammy wins this year is Great Britain's Charli XCX, who won three.
Asian artists continue to have an impact in the music industry. Fear that the annual awards show by the music industry might not include crediting Asian artists was unfounded.
Although not initially listed to perform, Mars and Lady Gaga teamed up to sing a rendition of The Mama and Papas' "California Dreaming," in tribute to the firefighters and victims of the LA wildfires.
The couple, who have won numerous individual Grammy's in the past, won another Grammy for "best pop duo/group" for their single "Die With A Smile."
Another multi-Grammy winner, Norah Jones, who won Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for Visions. It is her 10th Grammy for Jones, the daughter of Indian American musician Ravi Shankar.

be as familiar to US audiences include Anderson Paak who teamed up with producer Knxwledg and as NxWorries to win a Grammy for Best Progressive R&BAlbun.
It is the second Grammy for the Korean American, who won a Grammy with Filipino American Bruno Mars when they teamed up as R&B's Silk Sonic, two years ago.
Charli XCX, an Indian Brit, made her first apppearance at the Grammy awards show, but most likely not her last. She turned out to be a big winner among Asian artists, (her mother is from India) for the evening winning three Grammys for Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Recording Package for Brat, as well as Best Dance Pop Recording for “Von Dutch.”

The 32-year old's "raunchy" performancce of "Von Dutch," which she herself described as the "best" in Grammy history, was loved by the audience but she praise was tempered by criticism for lip-synching during the number.
Perhaps, one of the biggest snubs this year was Fililpino American artist Olivia Rodrigo, who just completed a sold-out worldwide tour. "It’s hard to imagine an album as universally acclaimed and as wildly commercial as “Guts” could come home empty-handed, yet it did," writes Variety. One can only assume the voters felt the 22-year old Rodrigo will have plenty of opportunities for awards in her expected long career, the newspaper said.
To be honest, the competition this year was fierce with Beyonce and Taylor Swift competing in the same categories as Rodrigo.
Beyonce finally won album of the year Grammy for "Cowboy Carterx", a category she has never won but which her fans believe she should have won in previoius years.
