The night market in San Francisco's Filipino district has grown in popularity. |
Americans. It is home to almost one-third of the over 21 million Asians living in the United States. About 6 million Asian Americans live in the state making up about 15.5%% of California's total population.
Insider Monkey, a website that focuses on uncovering the best investment ideas of hedge funds and insiders, has listed the ten cities in the United States with the highest percentage of Asian Americans have made their homes.
With the exception of Honolulu, all the cities are in California. What's surprising is that seven of the cities are concentratd in the San Francisco Bay Area (marked with an asterick), all in the suburban ring around San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose urban centers.
San Francisco, often seen as the cultural center of Asian Americans, only has 37.53% Asian American population out of a total population of 815,201.
It must be noted that I can't vouch for the accuracy of Insider Monkey. In their tally of Asian Americans, the website must have lumped in Pacific Islanders and Hawaiians because other sources say has only 67% Asian Americans while Insider Monkey has Asian Americans at 72%. However, the discrepancy could be attributed to a increases for the years 2021-2023.
Nevertheless, Insider Monkey's listing below is a good conversation starter:

Milpitas, one of the fastest growing cities in the state, is located in the South Bay (of San Francisco Bay), and the eastern edge of Silicon Valley. Except for the current mayor, four of the 5-member Milpitas City Council members are of Asian descent. The member of Congress representing the city is Indian American Rep. Ro Khanna.
Indian Americans make up, by far, the largest block of Asians, followed by Chinese, Filipinos and Japanese.
Because of its proximity to the tech companies, the city has a large South Asian community.

Asians account for 7% of the overall population of the United States — that’s 24 million. The Chinese are the largest Asian group in the country with an estimated population of 5.2 million people, followed by Indians at second (4.8 million), and Filipinos at third (4.2 million). Despite making up only a small fraction of American society, the contributions of Asians to the US are immense.
