Former Congressmember Tulsi Gabbard launches a new podcast. |
To no one's surprise, Tulsi Gabbard made it official Tuesday when she announced that she is leaving the Democratic Party.
The former Congressional Representative from Hawaii has announced that she is leaving the Democrats, calling it an “elitist cabal of warmongers”, and inviting her “common sense independent minded” Democrats to join her. Despite leaving the party, she left her future political affiliation up in the air.Gabbard, who ran for United States President in 2019, said in a video published on Twitter on Tuesday said that the Democratic Party is driven by “cowardly wokeness.”
A frequent critic of the Biden administration, Gabbard's announcement was not a complete surprise. Since Biden took office, the Samoan American's criticism more and more began to echo the rhetoric coming from the conservative extremists who have taken over the GOP.
Gabbard's tweet said: "I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue & stoke anti-white racism, actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms, are hostile to people of faith & spirituality, demonize the police & protect criminals at the expense of law-abiding Americans, believe in open borders, weaponize the national security state to go after political opponents, and above all, dragging us ever closer to nuclear war."

Gabbard’s announcement comes as she also kicks off a new podcast this week, “The Tulsi Gabbard Show.”
Once seen as a rising political star, Gabbard has gained a reputation as a wild card within Democratic circles, often questioning Democratic positions. She also faced criticisms earlier this year from local Democrats who voted to condemn her “for participating in an event that raised funds that will harm Democrats across the country” after she spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
