AAPI Vote 2018: There's another Asian American running for California's governorship

Gubernatorial candidate Peter Liu sings his campaign song.

WE KNOW that John Chiang is running for California governor, hoping to become the first Asian/American to occupy that office.

While Chiang is in the running to win enough votes in the June 5 Primary elections to wind up as the final two candiates who will face off in November, another -- albeit less known -- Asian/American is also running for the same office.

The chances of Peter Liu, a Republican, winning the governorship are very, very siim but we thought we'd give him some space for having the courage to be a difference-maker.

"I am the Worldʼs Smartest Leader," he claims on his website.

Liu, a self-professed, self-made multi-millionaire, made his fortune in real estate. His campaign's main focus is on law and order. If elected, he would implement his Community Empowerement Safety Plan. The main components of his pla includes an increase in concealed carry permits combined with elements of community ppolicing principles.

Liu, an Oakland resident, has evidently cut and paste some of his statements from his earlier unsuccessful run for Oakland mayor and pasted it on his campaign website for governor, which explains the slightly confusing statement:

"I became a self-made millionaire because Iʼve been frugal and efficient," says Liu. "If I run a successful campaign on less than $1,000 without the fancy excess, who do you think would make the best budgeter for the City of Oakland?"

He also released this video on Twitter of him singing his campaign song.
