THE PAIN of an unidentified man who claimed to be a former marine played out on a Sacramento street recently when he began screaming out of control at an elderly Southeast Asian American couple.
Van Khon said her father, who is in his mid-70’s, was wearing a short-sleeved camouflage cotton t-shirt when another man exploded in rage.
“My friends died.” and you’re going to wear this,” the man could be heard on a video posted on Facebook. “No, no , you can’t do that.”
“OK, OK,” said Khon’s mother who had heard the commotion and ran across the street to intervene.
“Ok, OK, she repeated hoping to calm the man.
“No, It’s not OK, OK.”
“I’m sorry,” she said.
“I’m a Marine. OK, and this mother f*ckers going to wear that sh*t? no no. F--k you, f--k you.”
Khon says her father knows little English and did not understand what was going on.
“That angered the man more and he grabbed my father by his collar pulling his key necklace he had on and fist closed threatening he’s going to kill him and how dare he wear that when his friends died in war yelling at him he should go back to his country he’s not welcomed here and accused him of being a Vietnamese communists,” she wrote on Facebook.

“My father is far from a communist, he served in the Vietnam War for Laos on the U.S. side,” said Khon.
