A MAN ACTING crazy must have gotten even crazier because he didn't have his cup of coffee.
Kathleen Deady, wearing a niqab covering part of her face and head, went into a coffee shop in Riverside, Calif. then became the target of a racist tirade by an unidentified white man.
A video of the incident titled "Coffee shop refuses service to man making Islamophobic comments, was posted Monday (May 14) and has gone viral.
It opens with a man muttering a comment and then repeating it directing it to a Muslim woman wearing a veil and headscarf called a niqab. “I said, ‘Is this Halloween or something?’” the man repeated.
Deady asks him why he said that and the man replies, “Why wouldn’t I?” and “Because I want to.”
When she asks if he knows she’s a Muslim, he responds: “Yeah I do.”
Deady asks what his problem is with that and he replies:
“I don’t like it, how’s that? I don’t like that because I don’t like your religion and it says to kill me and I don’t want to be killed by you. How’s that?”
Deady then challenges him, asking if he has read the Koran. He says he’s read “enough of it to know.” After the man says he’s “absolutely” Christian, she challenges him about a Bible passage but he says, “I don’t have any kind of a conversation with idiots.”
As he tries to pay for his coffee, Deady says, “You are committing hate speech.”
Offscreen, voices can be heard shouting at the man, "Racist!" and "Get outta here!"
He tries to pay for his coffee order, but the barista refused to serve him. He left crankier than he was before the unpleasant encounter.
After the incident, coffee shop supervisor Tawny Alfaro says she refused to serve him because he was "being disruptive and he was being very racist."

Deady responds, "Thank you."
Senseless acts of hate against AAPI and other minorities have risen during the Trump admnistration according to the FBI, the Southern Poverty Law Center and other civil rights organizations. "People Acting Stupid" will chronicle these incidents which, unfortunately, occur much too frequently.
