The victim, Dara Toeun |
Police with the East Bay Regional Park District are seeking information from the public regarding the death of Toeun, whose body was found at a park in Rodeo, California, earlier this month.
On July 2, the body of the 27-year-old Cambodian/American was found at a beach at Lone Tree Point on the East Bay shoreline of San Francisco Bay, according to park district spokeswoman Carolyn Jones.
A family that was fishing made the discovery, Jones said.
Toeun had only been living in the area since January, according to Jones.
The East Bay Times reported that Toeun had attended Downtown College Prep in San Jose. She was known to move from home to home, and often stay with friends, because her parents are both deceased.
Toeun also briefly worked at Rolling Hills Memorial Park in Richmond, where she sold cemetery plots, but resigned shortly before her death, according to William Uschold, her supervisor there.
Park district police are asking that anyone who knew her or has information about her last known whereabouts call them at (510) 690-6549.
A Go Fund Me page was set up by friends and it raised enough to cover funeral costs. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at the Alum Rock Methodist Church, 30 Kirk Ave., San Jose, Calif.
