THE FIRST of its kind multilingual PSA campaign is being unveiled to open the door for LGBTQ kids to come out.

The Public Service Announcements will feature Asian/American parents supporting their children’s sexual orientation.

The PSAs are being released in Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, Lao and Tagalog with English subtitles.

The campaign is sponsored by the National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance.

“I am proud of my son and I will always be proud of my son,” said Deanna Cheng, a Chinese mother of a gay son.

“It’s time to take a stand to really support your children, my children and our children,” said Vinay Chaudhry, an Indian father of a gender queer child.

The PSAs will air on Asian/American ethnic television stations and international channels in June, during LGBTQ Pride Month.

While the PSAs air, NQAPIA will sponsor a series of Family Acceptance Workshops across the country. The workshops will be led by the families that appear in the PSA. The workshops will be confidential and will explore the confusion and fear of parents learning they have LGBT kids and how these parents became comfortable offering love, support and acceptance.

The workshops will be held throughout the month of May and June.

You can find more information about the PSA campaign and the family acceptance workshops at NQAPIA’s website.
