Daniel Dae Kim developing drama with Asian American lead for ABC

AN ASIAN AMERICAN actor is being sought to play the lead in a new legal drama on television.

Daniel Dae Kim will help executive produce a new legal drama ABC is developing, Deadline reports. Exhibit A will be a collaborative effort between ABC and Kim’s production company, 3AD.

Kim is currently an executive producer for the ABC drama, The Good Doctor. His new project “Exhibit A” is based on the South Korean drama My Lawyer, Mr. Jo. Warren Hsu Leonard, a writer for How to Get Away With Murder, wrote the script. He will also be an executive producer for the show alongside Kim and Rina Brannen.


The show 
follows the life of a former prosecutor named Andrew Cho. Power brokers have sabotaged Cho’s career, and he must now work as an under-dog lawyer to defend the underdog. According to Deadlineif the series gets fully developed and aired, this will be the first American drama series outside of the action genre to feature an Asian American lead.

3AD's hit The Good Doctor, which is in its second season, was also based on a Korean series and adapted for Amercan audiences.
