Equal Pay Day: AAPI women earn 85 cents for every dollar earned by white men

YESTERDAY, APRIL 4, was Equal Pay Day, which highlighted the wage gap between men and women.

The good news is that the gap is narrowing. The bad news is that it will take 115 years for women to earn the same amount of money as a man doing the same work.

A month earlier on March 7 was AAPI Equal Pay Day when we posted an article on A Day Without Women with a title 'AAPI women suffer pay gap.'

“Fighting Invisibility, Closing the Wage Gap: An Equal Pay Agenda for Asian American and Pacific Islander Women” is a comprehensive report on pay discrimination and Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) women. Despite the myth that AAPI communities have universally achieved economic and professional success in the United States, the lives of AAPI women, transgender, and gender non-conforming people* paint a drastically different picture.
