LUCY LIU, 47, will celebrate her first mother’s day as a mom today.

The co-star of the CBS hit TV show Elementary gave birth to Rockwell in August with the help of a gestational surrogate.

Liu has proudly shared some adorable photos of Rockwell on social media, but those photos while adored by most, have made  the actress the target of online criticism.

“I’m a single mother who had a baby through a gestational carrier, and I know that people had opinions about how it was done,” said Liu to Yahoo Celebrity. “And I think it’s really important that people also embrace that it’s not about those details, it’s about how you carry on from the point of having your child and loving your family.”

Liu says she wasn’t even aware of the criticism until friends brought it to her attention. She says she makes it a point not to follow the reaction after posting her pictures.

“I thought, ‘How can anyone have any discouraging words for a baby? For having had a baby.’ I find that really shocking, and I felt it was strange and odd in this day and age that people would have a negative slant on someone having a family, or having judgment on how someone had a family.

"There is no one way to identify what family means now," said Liu in a PSA for Tylenol (below}. "It is anything and everything.  It’s really how you love.  And the fact that there is love in there at all is family.”
